Trade Possibility: Lars Eller

Continuing with our series, we look at Montreal’s potential trade chip Lars Eller. The Danish center has been subject to multiple rumors over the past few seasons but that all may come to fruition this offseason.

Eller is known for being a two way forward, but he can bring a solid amount of offense too. He put up 26 points last year, and has hovered between 26 and 31 points his whole career. Not game changing numbers, but solid for a middle-six center.

Eller alone would not fetch much, but he could be included in a larger deal. Him (along with David Desharnais) could be used as pot sweeteners in a bigger Montreal deal.

Edmonton has long been connected to him. Could he be involved in a trade where Montreal moves up to #4? Nail Yakupov heading to Montreal in an Eller trade is another option to keep open.

Eller also has a relatively short and cap friendly contract with 2 more years at 3.5 million per, opening the door for competing teams to trade for him too. This is pure speculation, but I wonder if Los Angeles would take a crack at him to replace Vinny Lecavalier. San Jose as well.
